The PAN Card is a unique alphanumeric license issued by the Department of Income Tax under the Income Tax Act 1961. It is the same as to a national identification number. It serves as an important ID proof. It happens to be mandatory for financial transactions. The PAN application would be processed by NSDL/UTITSL.
The PAN stands for Permanent Account Number. It was introduced to facilitate linking suite of documents, including taxes, assessment, tax demand, tax arrears etc.
For a new PAN Card, there is an application which is filled out along with Proof of residential address is to be submitted to NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited). The applicant can track the status of his/her application/reprint of PAN Card/Changes /Correction in PAN details after three days of application using this facility.
Applying for a Duplicate PAN Card is almost like applying for a fresh PAN card. Its application form costs Rs.5/- and fee charges Rs.67/-. A0ddress and a passport size photograph are produced. Do not change Name, Fathers’ Name and DoB (date of birth) if the same is correct in the lost PAN card. You can change them if they are not correct.
